Everyone needs to take care of herself or himself everyday. The most important reminder is to “think positive” starting with your first thought of the day, because it leads to more positive decisions, actions, outcomes and behavioral patterns. When we are able to get into a positive frame of mind, it is easier to remind ourselves to take positive actions to support ourselves. This leads to enhanced nutrition, exercise, spiritual connection, creativity, and clarity.
Here are Seven Recommended Areas for Daily Self-Care:
1. Positive thinking through self-love. Do things that nurture and support yourself
2. REMinders to think positive (affirmations, objects that inspire you, music, art)
3. Nutrition (wise choices, smoothies, drink healthy water)
4. Exercise (walking, jogging, hiking, skiing)
5. Spiritual Practice (art, playing music, meditation, going in nature, qigong/ tai chi, yoga)
6. Creative activity (cooking, art, music)
7. Clearing (Listen to your emotions, thoughts and body signals and clear when needed; a conscious clearing activity, epsom salt baths, or ask someone for support)
Next Steps to More Self-Care
Your state of being attracts experiences toward you. For that reason, it is important to create a daily practice to promote positive thinking. This might include a positive affirmation, reading an inspiration book, starting the day with exercise, eating a healthy food, or doing a spiritual practice. Whatever you do, do it with an intention and be conscious of what you want to receive from doing it. Set small achievable goals for self-care each week. e.g., walk or run for 30 mins. 3x week, daily yoga or qigong for 20 mins. Use positive affirmations for each goal, e.g., “I love my body, exercise daily and am inspired to move”. REMember your state of being attracts more of that experience to you. By doing self-care you are helping support all those around you by uplifting your own energy level, emotion and the positivity of your thoughts. When you feel good and are inspired, you notice more things that reinforce that feeling. There is a snowball effect of positive thinking, positive behavior (action), and fostering positive experiences. Consciously direct your being in a positive way.
